About the Position
Position Description
Cobblestone Christian Church is looking for a dedicated and spiritually mature Pastor to provide leadership, vision, and oversight for the church's ministry. The Pastor will be responsible for preaching, teaching, shepherding the congregation, and leading the church in fulfilling its mission to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership qualities, biblical knowledge, and the ability to communicate the Word of God effectively.
Key Responsibilities: Preaching and Teaching: Prepare and deliver biblically sound, engaging sermons each Sunday and on special occasions that reflect the Cobblestone Christian Church Statement of Faith. Teach and lead Bible studies, prayer meetings, and other spiritual development activities for the congregation. Provide theological guidance and instruction to the church in alignment with Scripture.
Pastoral Care: Offer spiritual counseling and guidance to individuals and families in the church. Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other significant spiritual events as needed. Visit church members, especially those in need of support, such as the sick, elderly, or those facing personal challenges.
Leadership and Vision: Work alongside the Church Elders to set and implement the vision and direction of the church. Provide oversight and leadership for church staff, volunteers, and ministry teams to ensure cohesive ministry efforts. Lead the church in outreach and evangelism initiatives, fostering a missional mindset within the congregation. Encourage and equip members to serve in various capacities, using their spiritual gifts for the benefit of the church.
Administrative Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the church, including management of staff and budget in collaboration with the Church Elders. Attend and lead church leadership meetings, including Elder Board meetings and church-wide events. Assist in strategic planning for church growth and community engagement.
Collaboration with Church Leadership: Work in close partnership with the Church Elders, respecting and upholding the shared governance structure of the church. Support the Elders in decision-making and ensure alignment with the churchs doctrinal beliefs and long-term vision. Communicate regularly with church leadership to ensure clarity and unity in church direction.
Qualifications: Ordained minister with a degree in theology, divinity, or a related field preferred. At least 5 years of pastoral experience or equivalent ministry experience. Strong biblical knowledge and the ability to communicate Scripture clearly and effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and congregation. Committed to living a life that models Christ-like character, integrity, and spiritual discipline. Possess a vibrant personality that is exhibited through dynamic sermon delivery. Provide a high level of engagement with congregants on a personal level.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Working Conditions: Full-time position with responsibilities that may extend beyond traditional office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as ministry needs arise. Willingness to attend conferences, seminars, and other continuing education opportunities to enhance pastoral leadership.
