Position Description
Position Title: Production Director
Department: Worship and Creative Arts
The mission of the Worship and Creative Arts Department is to provide training, leadership, and performance opportunities for students to develop their creative talents through events that advance the overall mission of the institution. Institutional Goals supported by Department: IG 2, 3, 4
A. Summary
Provide leadership, direction, oversight, and training of all aspects of production for OCC events. Coordinate technical and production services across multiple departments, including but not limited to Admissions, Academics, and Student Affairs. The Production Director will work closely with the Director of Events and Resources for campus events and contracted events.
B. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide planning, management, and technical support for college events on and off campus, e.g., chapel, conferences, personnel luncheons, admissions programs, sports events, outside groups, Christmas and spring productions, recitals, and concerts. (60%)
a. Serve as production manager for chapel and events
b. Oversee contractors hired for live production events
c. Create, plan, and build stage design elements for college venues in cooperation with appropriate event leaders
2. Train, manage, and provide pastoral leadership to the student production team by establishing and implementing short-range and long-range goals, objectives, policies, operating procedures, and training for student employees. (10%)
3. Instruct and provide technical support for the Creative Arts Academy. (5%)
4. Maintain a thorough understanding of current and forthcoming production technology and adapt to changes based on the budget and stewardship of current equipment. (5%)
a. Develop and manage the technical audio, video, and lighting budget and long-term plan
b. Maintain an accurate inventory of production equipment, ensuring that production equipment is in good working order
5. Work with Frontline on all technical aspects of the school year and summer camp events. Communicate and coordinate with off-site event contacts concerning equipment needs. (15%)
6. Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)
C. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
1. Understands and exemplifies the core values and mission of the institution and the Worship and Creative Arts Department
2. Has a thorough working knowledge of the principles, techniques, and equipment involved in live production
Skills:
1. Strategic planning, project management, and communications skills
2. Technical experience must include: ProPresenter presentation software; lighting software, DMX/ARTNET protocol, and lighting consoles; digital mixing consoles; digital audio workstations; Dante networking; video editing; use of video cameras and switchers in live production; DSLR cameras; stage set design and construction; LED panels and controllers; streaming software
Abilities:
1. Ability to provide technical guidance, training, and support to all team members across the college campus
2. Ability to organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and execute work tasks and projects
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all staff to foster a spirit of unity in a team environment
4. Strong passion for creative arts and the ability to apply that to live production
5. Christlike life and attitude, modeling the principles of pastoral leadership and contextualization

E. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
1. A technical degree in a production-related field is preferred, but relevant experience may be considered.
2. Appropriate certification may be required for teaching specific skills.
3. For teaching in the classroom, seven years of previous leadership experience in the field of worship and creative arts is required.
F. Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment characteristics are those generally associated with an office, auditorium/stage, and control booth. Performing the duties of this job requires that the employee stand, walk, sit, and use sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer equipment. Requires light physical work and occasionally heavy lifting associated with moving and installing production equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers. Requires speaking and hearing ability to communicate in person and over the phone.
