About the Position

Position Description

The NowGen Pastor is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the spiritual growth and discipleship of children, youth, and young adults (birth through college-aged). This role focuses on fostering an environment where the NowGen can encounter God, grow in faith, and live out their calling in Christ. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a heart for young people, a passion for equipping families, and the ability to build a cohesive ministry strategy across all age groups.

Objectives for this Role:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leadership and Vision
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the spiritual formation of children, youth, and young adults, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and values
  • Cast vision and provide leadership for volunteers and staff within the next generation ministries.
  • Actively partner with parents and guardians to equip them as the primary spiritual leaders in their homes.
  • Stay informed of cultural trends and challenges facing young people to create relevant and engaging ministry experiences.

Ministry Oversight

  • Oversee and coordinate all age-specific ministries (children’s ministry, youth ministry, and young adult ministry), ensuring consistency in values, mission, and discipleship practices.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and leaders to serve effectively in their respective roles.
  • Plan and execute engaging programs, events, camps, and outreach opportunities that encourage spiritual growth and community among young people.
  • Provide pastoral care to children, youth, and young adults, including counseling, mentoring, and spiritual guidance.

Teaching and Discipleship

  • Prepare and deliver biblically sound and culturally relevant teaching that resonates with each age group.
  • Develop and implement discipleship pathways that help young people grow in their faith and discover their spiritual gifts.
  • Encourage students to serve within the church and participate in local and global mission opportunities.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, and ministry teams to ensure seamless integration of next generation ministries within the broader church body.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates, resources, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Foster intergenerational connections within the church community through intentional initiatives and events.

Administration and Accountability

  • Develop and manage budgets for next-generation ministries, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all participants by implementing and maintaining child protection policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree  (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5 or more years experience in ministry leadership, with an emphasis on youth or family ministry.
  • A strong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living a life consistent with biblical principles.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams of volunteers and staff.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with current technology, social media platforms, and their application in ministry.
  • Visionary Leadership: Ability to inspire and guide others toward a shared vision for ministry.
