Central Park Christian Church, is a non-denominational church seeking a Lead Pastor. We are a diverse congregation that meet and serve in the heart of our city, Topeka, KS.Principal FunctionThe Lead Pastor shall serve as the chief under shepherd and overseer of this local church, feeding, leading, and nurturing the body. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to teach Gods Word, minister to spiritual needs and provide biblical leadership for the church. The Lead Pastor must support the Vision, Mission, and Core Values and agree with the Statement of Faith of Central Park Christian Church.QualificationsMust be ordained minister of the Gospel.Bachelors degree from a four-year accredited Bible college is required. A masters degree is preferred; Equivalent experience could replace the requirement of a bachelors and/or a masters degree.A minimum of ten years in pastoral ministry is preferred. Two to three years experience as a Lead Pastor is preferred. Experience in a multi-staff church is preferred.Demonstrate appropriate theological, doctrinal, and administrative skills to adequately fulfill the requirements of the position.A heart for people and their spiritual lives and be willing to truly be a part of the family and congregation of CPCC.Ability and willingness to work with people from both urban and rural backgrounds.Have a commitment to the whole family; develop a relationship with all ages to provide guidance, resources, and encouragement.Ability to communicate well and able to preach/teach in a manner to which all members of the Church can relate (children to seniors).Willing to listen to church members, pastoral and support staff, and others when questions and/or complaints are raised.A commitment to teamwork with the pastoral staff.Must be a self-starter, exercising initiative and judgment.Must be able to work independently, and cooperatively with staff and Elders.Must have a degree of organizational and administrative abilities.Must be able to pass a background check as determined by the elders.Working RelationshipsThe Lead Pastor is accountable to the Elders.This position will work with the other pastors, staff, Elders, church leaders, and the church at large.Develop relationships between the church and other community organizations, pastors in other churches, para-church organizations, missionaries, business owners and staff, and community leaders, and other resources that help fulfill our vision and mission as a church.Spiritual RequirementsA strong relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.Agree with the statement of faith referenced in the CPCC Constitution and By-Laws.Must be full of the spirit and wisdom (Acts 6:3).Should have a measure of all of the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23).Should possess the characteristics of an overseer (I Timothy 3: 2-7).A call to pastoral ministry from God.A man of prayer.A man of personal integrity, whose family life is in order, and have a proven record of manifesting Gods love, treating others as he wishes to be treated.Spiritual gifts relevant to the position:Pastor/shepherdTeachingAdministrationRequirements and Responsibilities of the PositionProvide leadership and vision for the church; work alongside the pastors and Elders to stay true to our vision, mission, and core values.Motivate, equip, nurture, and admonish the congregation through example, preaching and teaching Gods Word.Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study, seeking Gods vision, guidance, and blessing for CPCC.Oversee pastors and staff, working alongside them to excel in ministry and personal integrity.Oversee the finances of the church.Visit hospitalized or grieving church members.Officiate at weddings and funerals.Provide counseling as needed and as within qualifications (salvation, spiritual issues, premarital, marital, life issues).Manage conflict in the church; seek to reconcile relationships and promote unity.Performs other requirements as assigned by the Elders.Duties of the positionA 50-hour work week is expected; many of these hours are outside normal office hours.Available to be on-call for emergencies.Make yourself available to church members in a variety of ways (appointments, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, etc.).Preach, teach, and perform weddings, funerals and make hospital calls as needed.Oversee the daily operation of the church, including the efficient use of all resources.Work with the ministry leaders of the Church to create and submit a proposed budget to the Elder Board. Oversee the approved budget on a day-to-day basis.Attend weekly (or as needed) staff meetings for prayer, planning, and sharpening leadership skills; work together with the Elders/staff to develop ministries that fulfill our vision and mission.Meet one on one with staff regularly and oversee yearly performance evaluations of all staff.Adhere to the policies of CPCC and the direction of the Elders.As requested, report to the Elders the status of fulfilling our vision, mission, and purpose.Other duties as assigned by the Elders.
