Full-time Pastor

Position Description The pastor is the spiritual leader of the church. It is the duty of the pastor to preach and teach the Word so as to bring the saints to maturity and to assist the congregation in worship. The pastor shall provide watch-care over the flock, counsel those in need, and lead prayer. He will pro-vide administrative leadership. He shall be an example to the congregation in carrying out the church's purpose, which is to foster and encourage fellowship in the person and gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, to exalt Him in corporate worship, and to spread the message of salvation to all. The pastor is to be a champion of the church's mission statement, which is to be a Bible-based church, helping people discover the way to salvation and discipleship in Christ. Responsibilities Set as a guideline of personal behavior the standard required in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Titus 1:5-9. Maintain a regular program of study to enable himself to plan and coordinate meaningful worship services, including delivering the message of Gods Word. Prepare for worship services, lead in the observance of the ordinances, and lead the church in prayer and proclaiming the gospel to the church and communities. Lead a weekly prayer meeting for congregants. Work in concert with the Board of Elders as a fellow elder in governance and development of vision in long range and short-term planning. Equip the congregation for evangelism and making disciples. Support the spiritual growth of members in their walks as disciples of Jesus Christ. Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation, including but not limited to hospital visitation; home visits; and premarital, vocational, family, and bereavement counseling. Perform wedding ceremonies and conduct funeral services as needed. Serve as a representative of the church in the communities. Maintain efficient and effective lines of communication between the elders and congregation. Encourage development of additional educational, outreach, missions, and other programs. File monthly reports to the Board of Elders detailing his time and activities spent in the work of the church. Be willing to assume additional responsibilities as the church experiences growth or other needs arise.
