
Creative Arts Academy Tracks
Music Tracks
- Worship Band or Band Vocals
Improve your ability to lead worship instrumentally and vocally through private lessons and classes while singing and playing on a worship team. Positions include vocalist, piano/keys, acoustic, bass and electric guitar, drums/percussion.
- Advanced Vocal Performance
This track is for vocalists who are ready to take their talent to the next level. This will be a highly talented ensemble that will tackle challenging music like Pentatonix and similar artists. Limited to 10 participants.
*Students will learn the science behind their vocals through concepts like tone, breathwork, tessitura, register, etc.
*Work through difficult a cappella harmonies
*Solo opportunities
*Perform in the Final Presentation
- Songwriting
Collaborate with professional songwriters and other students to write and record original songs. Work with graphic design students to create album artwork specifically for your songs.
- Studio Music Production
Learn the musical and technical skills to make a professionally produced audio track for any music style. Practice the skills of recording, mixing, mastering, synthesis and music arranging. Work on your own compositions and produce a track for the CAA songwriting students.
If you have your own laptop and software, you’re encouraged to bring them.
Visual Tracks
- Photography
Photography 1: Learn the fundamentals of photography, lighting, composition and photo editing from a professional photographer. Develop a portfolio of your work and use photo editing software. If you own a DSLR camera, bring it. If not, a camera will be provided. If you have your own laptop and software, you’re encouraged to bring them.
Photography 2: Exclusively for students who have already been in the Photography track at least one year, this track will offer advanced instruction and experiences to continue your growth as an artist.
- Digital Art
Explore the options of creating narrative artwork in a digital environment! Whether you are new or experienced with digital art, you will take your skills to the next level as you learn how to implement them in illustrations that focus on story. This will include techniques such as character design and visual storytelling through a series of images or comics! Note: you will be required to bring your own device on which to create digital art. Recommended devices: iPad, Surface, or laptop with external drawing tablet. Recommended apps: Procreate, Fresco, Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop. Other devices/apps are acceptable, but may limit your experience.
- Illustration
Illustration 1: Build a strong foundation for a lifelong creative journey! Master traditional tools like pencil, ink, and watercolor while uncovering the power of color theory and the psychology of color perception. Learn to select the best materials, sharpen essential skills, and embrace the discipline of finding your creative flow. Stay energized and focused with artist stretches to support your growth and prevent gradual deterioration or injury. Elevate your artistry and create with confidence through timeless practices and intentional skill-building.
Illustration 2: Exclusively for students who have already been in the Illustration track at least one year, this track will offer advanced instruction and experiences to continue your growth as an artist.
- Videography
Videography 1: Learn from professional filmmakers the process and tools for telling powerful visual stories. Videography students create media for the final program. If you have your own laptop, software, and camera, you’re encouraged to bring them.
Videography 2: Exclusively for students who have already been in the Videography track at least one year, this track will offer advanced instruction and experiences to continue your growth as an artist.
Misc. Tracks
- Theater
Whether in comedy or drama, develop your theater performance skills through improv, script analysis, and dramatic interpretation. Perform in the final program.
- Writing
Write screenplays, novels, short stories, and poems by learning the principles of storytelling. By the end of the week, you’ll publish your work! If you have your own laptop and software, you’re encouraged to bring it.
- Production
Develop your audio mixing skills on a digital console. Design and execute visual environments for worship through lighting, camera work, video projection, and stage design. Work with artists in every track to produce the final program.
- Speaking
Everyone loves a great story. Learn from expert communicators how to construct a narrative and creatively engage an audience in spoken word, comedy, or a sermon.
- Podcasting
Dive into a full week of hands-on training in our new and improved video podcasting lab at the Creative Arts Academy. Together, we’ll create recorded segments for The CAA Cast while navigating free tools like OBS and DaVinci Resolve to record, edit, and share your content with your peers and beyond! Whether your goal is to launch your own show, enhance your church's media, or pursue entry-level opportunities in the growing field of podcasting, this track will give you the skills and confidence to get started!
Recommended: A computer that is able to run DaVinci Resolve and OBS.
