University Christian Church is a growing congregation located in the northwest section of Muncie, IN, a city of 70,000. The city offers many cultural, social, and sports activities. It is located near the campus of Ball State University and just five minutes from I-69. It also borders the small but growing community of Yorktown. University Christian Church exists to “Bring others to Christ, build them up in Christ, and send them out for Christ,” and God has blessed our efforts! Church attendance has grown every year since the Covid pandemic in 2020, with 48 baptisms and 61 transfers of membership in the past five years.

About the Position
Position Description
Our current Lead Pastor will be retiring after 23 years and will be transitioning out while the next Lead Pastor transitions in and takes on the role completely in May of 2027. At University Christian Church, the successful candidate will find:

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide vision and leadership to the congregation.
- Prepare and preach biblically-based sermons (40-45 times per year)
- Help provide ministries and strategies that will lead non-Christians to Christ.
- Help provide ministries and strategies that will disciple Christians toward growth in Christ.
- Lead shepherd and develop the church staff in a collaborative culture.
- Conduct weddings and funerals.
- Complete other responsibilities assigned by the Elders.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
- A team player
- At least a bachelor’s degree but preferably a master’s degree preferably from a Restoration Movement college or seminary
- Agrees with the ideals and doctrine normally embraced within the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ
- Possesses vision, creativity, and enthusiasm to grow a ministry with a clear and proven philosophy of ministry
- Relates well and has a positive influence on all age groups
- A sound faith in Jesus Christ but still seeking to grow in the Christian walk
