Children's Minister

Eastpointe Christian Church is seeking a part time Children’s Minister to join our staff, as our current Children’s Minister is shifting into a marketing role with the church. The Children’s Minister at Eastpointe Christian Church functions as the lead example for young families and for the church on how the church partners with families to raise up children to be fully devoted followers of Christ. The Children’s Minister will equip volunteers and volunteer teams to do the work of Children’s Ministry through Sunday morning programming, community outreach opportunities, intensive discipleship focuses such as VBS, and providing resources to aid in the spiritual development of children and families. The candidate must be devoted to Christ and his church, have a calling and giftedness to work with children, have an ever growing knowledge of Scriptures, be in alignment with the church doctrinal statement, and be gifted in the areas of recruiting, training, equipping, and communicating. Experience with Planning Center software is a plus. Eastpointe Christian Church, known often as the “Only God Can” church, is a regional, multiethnic, multigenerational Christian church that intentionally makes disciples of Jesus Christ both locally and globally.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead children and their families to follow Jesus.
• Invite, train, and empower volunteers to provide leadership within the children’s ministry.
• Maintain a monthly volunteer schedule that is sent to volunteers at one month in advance by utilizing the Planning Center software.
• Communicate weekly and meet monthly with Children’s Ministry Team Leaders in order to build ownership and equip them to lead other volunteers.
• Follow up with people that are interested in volunteering with children’s ministry.
• Lead creative team meetings with the appropriate people in order to implement the curriculum on Sunday mornings.
• Create systems and events to thank and appreciate children’s ministry volunteers.
• Oversee communication between the church, children and families.
• Provide resources for parents and families as needed.
• Work with the Youth Minister to develop and ensure a solid discipleship framework for ages birth through college, including the transition from Children’s Ministry to the Youth Ministry, and connecting the youth to serve in Children’s Ministry.
• Work with the Senior Minister to keep the vision for Children’s Ministry both in front of the church and consistent with the overarching vision for the church.
• Network with other vibrant children’s ministries around the area.
• Adapt and prepare curriculum for children ages 2 through 5th grades.
• Oversee the setup and operation of all related children’s ministry environments on Sunday morning, including check-in, individual children’s environments, security, check out, setup and tear down.
• Oversee the Children’s Ministry budget, and plan select special events as needed.
• Maintain and distribute the Children’s Ministry handbook.
• Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as scheduled.
• Maintain the children’s ministry “brand” in alignment with Eastpointe’s branding, including a name, theme, décor, graphics, website, etc.
• Ensure the security of children by obtaining regular background checks on all Children’s Ministry volunteers, making sure that all rooms have at least 2 children’s ministry leaders in them at all times, and following up immediately on any potential breeches of acceptable children’s ministry security.

• Follows Jesus Christ daily as their Lord by practicing personal Bible study, prayer, healthy engagement with the church community, etc.
• Maintain God ordained priorities in your life.
• Practice tithing (10%) of your income to Eastpointe Christian Church.
• Be loyal to the vision, staff, and Elders of Eastpointe and always strive to protect the health and unity of the church.
• Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to Eastpointe.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary is commensurate with experience and based on Eastpointe’s salary schedule
• A minimum of 3 weeks of paid vacation each year
