About the Position
Position Description
Student Ministry:
- Teach on Wednesday nights and lead a student LifeGroup on Sunday mornings
- Provide pastoral care to middle school and high school students and their families thru counseling, hospital or crises visits, as well as periodic interaction at a student’s school or extra-curricular activities
- Outreach to prospective families who have students
- Recruit and train teams of adult volunteers to assist in weekly student ministry activities and special events
- Plan, implement, and assess engaging activities for students with the goal of involving them in the life of the church
- Maintain a strategic emphasis on reaching lost students and discipling them in Christ
- Encourage and empower spiritual growth within the lives of students through varied learning environments (large groups, small groups, mentoring relationships, etc.)
- Help students understand their role as members of the church, not just the student ministry
- Connect students with a variety of opportunities to serve Christ
- Provide leadership training for both adult staff and students
- Help align the Student Ministry with the overall vision, mission, and values of Immanuel Baptist Church
- Equip, empower, and encourage the Student Ministry to contribute to the making of disciples by building relationships
- Provide assistance to the staff of Immanuel Baptist Church including (but not limited to) the functions described above
- Plan a student ministry event at least once every other month
College Ministry:
- Lead a College Ministry Bible Study or Small Group. Currently, the College Small Group meets on Sunday nights from 6:30–8pm.
- Plan regular game nights, missional events, or gatherings for College Students. Currently, College Students meet on Friday nights (Every other week during the semester & every week during the summer).
- Plan an annual College Ministry Retreat and Missions Opportunity
- Provide an annual opportunity for college students to be involved in hands-on ministry.
- Plan and lead move-ins to get to know new students and provide information about Immanuel Baptist Church
- Communicate about the needs of College Ministry to the rest of the church body (i.e., Adopt-a-Student) as well as make the congregation aware of College Ministry events and opportunities.
