Job Summary
RCC is looking for a student ministry intern to work alongside of the full-time student minister and other staff members. This intern will serve and connect with the high school and middle school students in our church and community. The person who fills this position should be interested in serving in vocational ministry. RCC prefers applicants who can already demonstrate communication skills, leadership, and interpersonal relationships, but the intern should expect to learn skills in practical organization and event planning, ministry counseling, public speaking, small groups and Bible studies, engaging with students, and leadership. Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly elders & staff meetings and submit written ministry updates.
- Assist in the writing of newsletter articles/ministry updates to communicate with parents.
- Work with student leadership team officers and adult leaders.
- Mentor students/cultivate relationships with all students.
- Attend summer camp, 3:18 Ministries Trip (Mission Trip), and other summer student ministry events that occur during the internship.
- Attend weekly worship service (Catalyst) hosted by Christian Campus Fellowship – Rolla (CCF) in conjunction with the provided housing arrangements.
- Aid in organization of the weekly youth group worship service and weekly Sunday School class.
- Be on call 24/7 for any situations of emergencies that may arise.
- Other tasks as your giftedness allows and as asked by the student minister or senior minister.
What You Will Learn:
- The basics of church organization.
- How to operate as a student ministry situated at a mid-sized church located in a moderate-sized city.
- How to work with a team of ministers and volunteer leaders.
- Basic counseling and mentoring skills.
- How to create a ministry calendar and plan events.
- Speaking and communication skills.
- How to maintain effective communication with parents and students through mass-communication tools and databases (Planning Center, Mailchimp, Grow Numbers, etc.).
- How to communicate with a board of elders as well as partner with local churches and parachurch ministries.
