Job Summary
The Mountainview Residency Program is a two-year ministry training program (with a one-year evaluation) designed to provide emerging leaders with real-life experience in a local church. This is accomplished through personal mentoring and meaningful ministry responsibilities.
The Residency Program is a part of Mountainview’s 3G mission to Glorify God, Grow in Jesus, and to Go into the World. Residents gain valuable ministry experience by serving as part of a staff team in one of Mountainview’s ministry areas. Over the course of two years, the resident will be encouraged to lead as well as learn. The ministry area in which a resident serves will be based on personal experience, team chemistry, and what the resident hopes to do in the future. Personal development is focused on developing the spiritual maturity and character of the resident. We believe this is an essential part of both ministry training and ongoing vocational ministry.
The Mountainview Residency program will feature semi-annual spiritual formation retreats designed to promote the spiritual wellbeing of our residents. Professional development is focused on helping the resident develop the necessary competencies to be effective in ministry. In one-on-one sessions, as well in real ministry environments, the resident will learn and develop their ministry skills. There will also be monthly gatherings of all residents for the purpose of leadership development.
Typical residency candidates will be ministry-minded undergraduate students or recent graduates looking for practical experience before seminary or full-time employment. Areas of Opportunity: Church Administration, Church Planting, Preaching, General Pastoral Compassion, Community Worship, Spiritual Formation, and Family (children's and students).
Qualifications
- Clear calling into vocational ministry
- Committed to Mountainview's mission, vision, and staff culture
- Agreement with Mountainview's statement of faith
- Some ministry experience
- Clear ministry competence and leadership potential
- Successful completion of application process
- A desire to change the world!
Compensation: Mountainview will pay each resident $500 and arrange for free housing with a member of the church. Residents will be allowed to raise additional support to pay for expenses; some residents may choose to work a part-time job that does not conflict with ministry responsibilities.
