The church acknowledges that a preacher’s work cannot be rigidly regulated because of the nature of the ministry. Crisis situations and emergencies along with meetings and a heavy schedule may alter the preacher’s regular work schedule and sometimes necessitate rearranging work and leisure. The preacher maintains regular office hours for the purpose of church administration, counseling, and discussing church or personal matters with any church member. The primary purpose of scheduling regular office hours is to make the preacher available to church members. If the preacher is away during office hours due to an emergency, a need in the community, or church activities, the preacher‘s secretary or someone designated will be available to take a message or notify the preacher upon his return.
PURPOSE: To serve the congregation as a preacher and to work with the elders, deacons, and other leaders in the congregation to equip the saints for the work of ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ.
1. Pulpit Preaching: Preach the Sunday AM service. Lead the Sunday PM Bible study. Lead Wednesday PM Bible study/devotional service. Conduct funerals and weddings. Visit members in the hospital and visitors to the congregation. Lead/or train other men to lead program after the men’s monthly breakfast. Seek to foster healthy relationship with other preachers in Forsyth and Taney County and other area Christian Churches.
2. Teaching: Assist Ladies Bible Class when asked. Assist with Bible School direction. Teach Bible School class or find suitable replacement in the case of absence. Update church home page as needed. Encourage involvement at every level.
3. Management: Serve as a team leader to coordinate office procedures, secretarial staff, and other items relating to providing the congregation with an efficient service center. Schedule and lead staff meetings which will enhance and enable better relationships with God, with each staff member, and with the congregation. Edit, write articles, and insure quality of weekly bulletin. The preacher will not report to or give an account of his ministerial duties to any member of the congregation. He will report only to the leadership.
4. Counseling: Provide pre-marital counseling and other counseling to those who desire it. Offer referral and encourage further help for those who need it. One-on-one counseling sessions with a member of the opposite sex or teenager are prohibited unless your spouse or other third party is present during counseling session. This is not intended to hamper your ministry but to protect you as a preacher.
Forsyth Christian Church
Who we are: Although we are an older congregation, we are growing with younger families. The church currently is small, but blessed by being financially sound. The congregation has great and frequent fellowship and is open to ideas that could lead to positive results for the church.
Whom we seek: We seek a passionate communicator of the Gospel, a visionary able to lead us without being too far ahead of us, and a progressive thinker willing to work with the leadership to help achieve more effective ways of communicating the Gospel.
Where we are: We are in the beautiful Ozarks, Forsyth is the county seat, and the community is only a few miles from Branson and three large, recreational lakes. The public school is highly regarded with an excellent record.
