Job Description and Profile Job Title: Children’s Pastor Status: Full-time Church Size: 300 Date Prepared/Revised: March 25, 2017 Supervisor: Lead Pastor 1st Christian Church in Carrollton, Georgia (located 50 miles west of Atlanta) is seeking a mature follower of Jesus Christ to become a full-time Children’s Pastor. We are looking for candidates who have a big heart for God and love for kids, strong team players with great leadership skills to move our Children’s Ministry team toward an even greater eternal impact in the lives of children at First Christian. Education and Experience Requirements Four-year degree in Children’s Ministry or education from an accredited college or university required (Master’s Degree preferred) 2+ years church experience with substantial understanding of Christian theology and mission Primary Responsibilities Lead children and their families to follow Jesus. Consistently deliver an outstanding environment so that children are educated to become followers of Jesus Christ. Create systems necessary to attain consistent, measurable results beneficial to the mission and vision of FCC. Systems include, but are not limited to: Child Safety Leadership Communication Guest Follow Up Volunteers Weekend Services Recruit, train, organize and empower volunteers to assist in leading the children’s ministry. Provide a showcase event on Sunday mornings. Lead creative team meetings in order to maximize the impact of Sunday mornings. Communicate weekly and meet regularly with Children’s Ministry Leaders in order to build ownership and equip them to lead. Oversee communication between the church, children and families. Provide resources for parents and families, as needed. Oversee curriculum selection for children, nursery through 5th grades. Oversee the setup and operation of all related children’s ministry environments on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights, including check-in, individual children’s environments, security, check out, setup and tear down. Oversee the Children’s Ministry budget, and plan special events, as needed. Participate in staff meetings, as scheduled. Create a children’s ministry “brand” within First Christian Church, to include: a name, theme, décor, graphics, website, etc. Traits & Skills Necessary Heart for kids Constant encourager Great people skills Strength in recruiting, training and overseeing volunteers Driven by a vision of the potential of the Children’s ministry they are leading Excellent communicator Experienced leader, specifically in the area of a group of volunteers High energy Favors creativity and innovation over tradition for tradition’s sake Capable of planning a weekly Sunday morning showcase event for kids Social media savvy Well read Knowledge of church systems, organization, and structure Team Player Teachable/ Lifelong learner Personal Responsibilities Maintain God ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first. Tithe according to what scripture teaches. Be loyal to the vision and staff of First Christian Church and always protect the unity of the church. Personally model the mission of First Christian so that people may be led into a growing relationship with Jesus.
