Job Summary

Use spiritual gifts to nurture youth and youth workers in a ministry that works closely with the Youth Ministry Team and Christian Education Team, with the objective of carrying out and accomplishing the Values and Goals of the First Christian Church of Duncan. Youth includes all youth, pre-kindergarten through young adults through college age. Essential funtions of the job include participating in the life of FCC, including attending weekly Sunday morning worship, Sunday school and encouraging youth and families to attend. Plan activities that will be guided by the values & goals of FCC. Help in planning activities such as VBS, Wednesday Unite, Youth Fellowship and Fundraising Activities. Assist in getting the Youth to Christian Camps, Mission Trips, and local service projects. As a vital part of the staff of FCC, participation in weekly staff meetings is essential in representing youth. Additionally, scheduled office hours are necessary for planning and preparation and being available to parents, youth workers and youth. Relate to and provide care for all youth regardless of their participation in church and youth activities. Attend all Church Board meetings and be prepared to make a report at each. Contribute to the weekly church newsletter (The Duncan Christian). Work with the staff of FCC and its members toward the growth and progress of the church and all its programs and ministries. Report directly to the Minister but also accountable to the Youth Ministry Team; receiving support and oversight as needed by all.

Applicant Requirements

Education: 1. Completion of high school. (Working toward a Bachelors Degree preferred.) Financial assistance in furthering education related to Biblical studies will be considered. Experience: 1. Experience in volunteering or otherwise working with youth in a church and preferably Disciples of Christ organization. Special Skills, Licenses or Certifications: · Ability to maintain confidentiality · Organization and Planning skills to prepare programs and events · Leadership skills · Good verbal and written communication skills · Theological similarity to First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ · Ability to relate well with Youth · Ability and desire to attend a variety of youth activities outside of church activities
