We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Associate Minister at Chilhowie Christian Church in Chilhowie, Virginia. This opening is a part of a strategic succession plan. The desire is that the new associate minister becomes the Sr. Minister at CCC when the current Sr. Minister retires in approximately 5-7 years. If you love mountains, don’t need a coffee shop on every corner and are looking for a long-term ministry opportunity, than this could be a great opportunity. CCC has more than tripled under in the last decade through a strong focus on the lost and consistency in leadership. It is imperative that the person coming into this role can live in an area more than 50 miles away from the closest city. If you desire convenience and the amenities of a large city, this will most likely not be a long term fit. If you love mountain culture, leading people closer to Jesus, and are called to lead in a Sr. Ministry role, then keep reading. The person coming into this role will have the opportunity to guide and direct all aspects of the church while working closely with the current Sr. Minister, elders, and other staff. The most pressing need that this person will oversee is the development of a Connections/First Impressions ministry that will create relational pathways and clear next steps for those that wish to be more involved with the church. Through the development of this ministry and the strategic re-alignment of the current ministries of the church, the new Associate Minister will be key in helping CCC break through it’s next growth barrier. The new Associate Minister will have the opportunity to preach and teach regularly while building the relational capital necessary to inherit the Sr. Minister role upon retirement of the church’s current Sr. Minister. This position requires a 4-year degree and significant experience in a church setting. The candidate should be comfortable working autonomously to create and implement ideas, events, programs, improvements, etc. He should be comfortable failing forward, and driven to see the church make an impact in the local community. It is preferred that the candidate have a high proficiency in church management software and is able to establish appropriate scorecards for gauging the success of the church’s ministry systems.
