Job Summary

The Chaplain provides ministry, spiritual guidance and support to patients, family members, caregivers and staff. Works in collaboration with the elected Chaplains Executive Committee members, Chaplain, Chaplaincy Program Coordinator and the Director of Volunteer Services to guide and direct the Volunteer Chaplaincy Program. Offers pastoral care to those with no specific affiliation/preference or no pastor available. Works in an interfaith environment using a non-denominational style of counseling. This position requires working with Volunteer Chaplains of many faiths serving a diverse population and provides counseling to patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic events. Provides service to many age populations including neonate through geriatric in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Training/Experience:

• REQUIRED:

• Bachelor Degree

• Four Completed Units of Clinical Pastoral Education

• Bereavement education and experience

• Crisis intervention education and experience

• Ability to work closely in a trusting relationship with patients, hospital professionals, volunteer chaplains, and area clergy

• Denominational Endorsement

• PREFERRED: Master of Divinity or related field, Two years of full-time pastoral experience in parish ministry, Volunteer Chaplain experience during parish ministry, Three years experience as a Healthcare Chaplain, strongly preferred, Experience working directly with volunteers, chaplaincy or spiritual care volunteers preferred, Ordination Certification by one of the national clergy certifying organizations concerned with pastoral care in institutions, such as APC, CPSP, or NACC, strongly preferred Experience using healthcare documentation programs, Proficient in Microsoft office systems

• License/Certifications/Special Requirements: Must be certified as a chaplain by one of the national clergy certifying organizations concerned with pastoral care in institutions
