You would be leading our worship team on Sundays AS A PASTOR and not just a worship leader. You would be responsible for choosing music, working with Planning Center, leading worship, and shepherding the worship team. My preference is that you lead vocally and from an acoustic or electric guitar, but we are open to other ideas, if you have a pastoral heart and it makes sense for our setting. I will be working with you on professional development, having you read what our staff is reading in Scripture and professionally, and discussing it. We are very much a disciple-making church, and we know that disciple-making is not an aspiration, but a very real thing we are personally committed to, so you'd be expected to be a relational disciple-maker in Joplin during your time there with people who know you are actually discipling them, and have someone discipling and coaching you, preferably a professor or local pastor. Attached is the job description for our full-time Worship Pastor at some point in the future. This is not the job description for this position, but should give you a very good sense of who we are and what we are moving towards. It is a lot, but it paints a picture for what we think that position will entail.
Contact Michael via email or text with a brief introduction of who you are, where you are in your educational process, and what you are hoping to find in an internship or part-time position. Please include your availability weekly, so we can know upfront if this would be something that could work with you driving back and forth each week, as the drive from Joplin to Tuttle is 3 hours and 45 minutes. We would potentially have housing available for you to stay free of cost and pay a weekly stipend. If, after we get that info, we are interested in talking further, I will contact you and have you fill out some profiles (Myers-Briggs, DiSC, theology, philosophy and strategy questions, etc.) and we will set up a time to talk digitally. If we are both still interested after that conversation, I will drive up to Joplin to meet you face to face, and hopefully talk with a couple of your professors and friends. Relationship is a huge value for us, so this would be about me getting to know you face to face, as well as getting to know you through the people who know you and do life with you. After that, if we're both still interested in moving forward, we will have you come down for a weekend to meet the staff, worship team and church, and to lead worship for us.
