Job Summary

Snellville Christain Church exists to lead people to know Jesus, to grow in the love of Jesus, and to share the hope of Jesus. We want to make disciples who make disciples. Matthew 28:19-20 Purpose of role To lead people to a personal saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and then equip them for the work of service, to the building up of the Body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12 All of the following is within the context of Snellville Christian Church By-Laws, Article VII Section (i): The Minister is subject to the guidance and direction of the Elders. Focus areas • Preaching/teaching • Ministry staff oversight • Pastoral care oversight • Church leadership • Church growth and community outreach Education requirements • Bible college graduate Tool/resources needed • Communication skills- written, oral, and non-verbal • Cell phone • Computer skills- MicroSoft Office Suite, Email, Social Media etc • Resource budget • Continuing education/professional growth opportunities Tasks involved/responsibilities • Preach Bible-based sermons with real-life application o Be aware of and sensitive to the needs of our community and congregation o Develop communication skills to effectively share God’s message for today o Plan a well-balanced strategy to cover Biblical topics • Discipleship o Teach others how to grow in Christ o Apply Biblical truths to everyday life o Equip Christians for their work of ministry o Increase others’ knowledge and appreciation of God’s Word o Teach stewardship of time, talents, and money • Evangelism o Lead others to a personal saving knowledge of Jesus Christ o Visitor follow up o Encourage new members to become involved in some aspect of the church’s ministry. o Represent our church to the community and to individuals well o Develop an overall consciousness of evangelism in the church • • Pastoral o Set a high moral standard for the congregation o Be available for Biblical counseling o Make hospital visitations and shut-in calls o Participate in and support church programs and outreach ministries o Pray, encourage and motivate the congregation to serve o Provide premarital counseling o Officiate at weddings o Officiate at funerals and provide comfort to the family at the death of a loved one • Worship o Participate in worship planning with the Worship Planning Team o Create an atmosphere where the body of Christ can sense the presence of Christ o Have all things done in an orderly and God-focused fashion • Administration o Have and communicate a vision for the church o Work with staff and elders in developing short-range and long-range goals o Establish regular office hours o Use and develop computer skills as needed o Supervise staff o Promote mutual respect and harmony among the staff members o Delegate responsibility to staff as necessary o Establish staff procedures to facilitate maximum effectiveness o Develop ministries and programs that meet needs and help members to grow o Communicate with the congregation through visits, letters, email, text, announcements and newsletter articles o Work together with Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Leaders to determine and monitor budgets • Accountability o The Senior Minister reports to the Elders of the church o The Senior Minister is to attend all Elders meetings and will serve as a non-voting Elder o Church committee membership as needed
