The First Christian Church (FCC) of Beatrice, Nebraska is seeking a pastor to lead its congregation into the future and the opportunities that will undoubtedly unfold as we live out our mission statement of "Following Christ by serving others." The position is now vacant due to the retirement of FCC's previous pastor, who served our congregation for the past 16 years. Our Pastoral Search Committee is open to considering candidates for an interim period of approximately one year or candidates seeking to be settled pastors.
As the sole pastor for our ministry, this position is responsible for the pastoral care of our entire congregation including regular visits (pre-Covid) to our homebound members whether they be living in their own home, an assisted living facility, or nursing home. In addition to leading the weekly Sunday morning worship service, our pastor also leads the two special services that are held each year on Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday. Other duties include the traditional pastoral duties such as child dedications, baptisms, weddings, funerals, spiritual & life counseling, and pastor's classes for youth wishing to be baptized.
The pastor, together with a group of eight elected Elders and several other congregation-led committees/groups, is responsible for the oversight/carrying out of the mission and ministries of our congregation. The pastor and these congregational groups are assisted in these tasks and responsibilities by a combination of paid and volunteer staff, many of whom are also FCC members.
Seminary training preferred, but applicants with commensurate levels of lay ministry training and pastoral experience will also be considered. Successful candidates must be proficient communicators and excel in the ministerial leadership areas of pastoral care, leader development, and proclamation of the Word.
