The position is a 1-2+yr commitment as an Intern Supervisor in Kathmandu, Nepal for The Himalayan Internship Program. Ideally, we are looking for one male and one female who are interested in ministering to Christian college interns in a cross-cultural ministry context, while also gaining cross-cultural missionary experience themselves! This supervisor role would include:
- leading the interns on survey treks to unreached, unengaged people groups throughout Nepal
- offering support/counseling to interns, facilitating communication between interns, translators, and the internship directors
- facilitating spiritual/missional conversations with intern teams.
An additional facet of their job would be to return to the States each year (usually once during the Fall and Spring semesters) to recruit interns from colleges, churches, mission meetings, internship fairs, and conferences. Up until this fall, the Himalayan Internship Program has been a summer internship, but that is now expanding to year round, as interested students sign up for coming during the academic year, anywhere from 1-5 months. While teams are not in-country, your time would be spent in language learning and cultural adaptation, both skills necessary for a healthy, balanced life here in Nepal. With Disciple Makers here in Kathmandu, we serve on a multi-cultural team that includes a Nepali supervisor and a Honduran co-worker. We (Ryan and Maggie Warmuth) would be guiding you as you worked. We are a missionary couple who have been running the program as directors for three years.
