Ambassador Christian Church is an Independent Christian Church averaging 150 on Sunday mornings with a wide assortment of age groups, but with the majority being young families. We are blessed with a growing number of children and youth, which has prompted us to seek a full-time youth minister. We currently offer for youth Discovery (Sunday school) classes for all ages on Sunday morning and Children’s & Kid’s Church during the Worship Service along with Wednesday night youth groups in the spring and the fall. We are currently undertaking the project of climate controlling our Activity Center (gymnasium) so it can be used year round. We were a new church plant in 1999 and are currently celebrating our 20th anniversary. Chanute is a town of over 9,000 in population, which includes a growing junior college, a modern public school system, a Christian school, a Christian coffee house for the youth, Cherry Street Youth Center and Hidden Haven Christian Camp located less than 30 minutes from Chanute.

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities • Build upon the current youth ministry • Recruit & mentor adult volunteers • Plan, organize & oversee activities for youth • Follow up with new youth • Visit the student’s schools, build relationships with school officials and attend important events in the student’s lives • Build relationships with youth and their parents • Visit youth and parents in their homes and when pastoral needs arise • Assist senior minister with responsibilities when needed • Implement a doctrinally sound youth curriculum with approval of senior minister and serve as primary teacher • Participate in elder, board and annual meetings • Plan & lead youth activities outside of church (mission trips, retreats, service projects, conferences such as CIY) • Be active in church camp during the summer • Be committed to outreach and evangelism of youth • Be a Christ-like role model to the youth • Preach on agreed upon Sundays • Worship leading experience preferred, but not required • Maintain an average of 40 hours per week including office hours • Any other job duties as assigned

Qualifications: Immersed believer in Jesus Christ – Growing personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ – Biblically sound - Committed to vocational ministry – Having spiritual integrity - Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Bible or ministry from a Restoration Movement college – Have excellent communication and organizational skills – Highly relational with children, teenagers and their parents – Strong leadership skills – Must meet or aspire to meet the qualifications for elder in I Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:5-9 – Be a self-starter with initiative – Be teachable and willing to be held accountable – Be a positive team player that is supportive of staff and leaders – Agree with and support the mission and beliefs of Ambassador Christian Church Benefits • Full-time salary • Health Insurance paid • Paid Vacation (two weeks first two years – three weeks third & fourth years – four weeks after five or more years) • Housing Allowance • One day off per week plus Saturday (Vacation weeks and days off to be coordinated with senior minister.)

Job Summary

This is a full-time salaried Youth Ministry position for primarily middle and high school students with some responsibilities with elementary youth. The Youth Minister will oversee the Ambassador Christian Church ministry to elementary, middle and high school students. He will provide spiritual guidance, mentoring, discipleship and direction to the youth and to their families both directly and through a team of adult volunteers. He must be a committed believer in Jesus Christ, committed to growing in his faith, have a strong work ethic, demonstrate a humble, servant’s heart as well as be committed to instilling the Word of God into the lives of the youth. He must have a passion for Christ, a passion for youth and be a positive, Christ-like role model. The Youth Minister will report directly to the Senior Minister and be under the authority of the Elders.
