Cherry Street Youth Center

Cherry Street as a Christian based afterschool program. We have served children K-5th grade since 1995 in the Chanute community. We are expanding our services to include middle school students for the upcoming 2016-17 school year. All positions are part-time and we follow the USD 413 school district calendar for days of service.

Job Summary

Part-time position approximately 4 hours per day M-F during first semester of the school year, two and half of those hours are required to be 3:00-5:30.  Second semester it will be 4 hours per day, Tuesday-Saturday.  Two and half of those hours are required to be 3:00-5:30 T-F, Saturday hours will vary depending on the planned activities.  Hourly rate is $11.00.  Primary job duties include supervision of all teachers, study buddies, and classroom volunteers for the middle school program, over site of all classroom activities by reviewing all lesson plans, monitoring facilities for maintenance needs, administering all emergency drills (fire, tornado, etc.), and facilitate activities at Royster during snack time.  The Middle School Program Director will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure program goals are responsive to middle school student interests and needs identified by the Royster staff.  The Middle School Program Director will mentor all staff on positive behavior supports (PBS) and will work with the PBS Facilitator to identify additional training needs for staff.

Applicant Requirements

We require someone with at least 3 years working with children and at least 2 years supervising staff. We prefer a Bachelors degree, but will consider experience en-lieu of degree.
