Academic Mentored Internships
Young women and men in preparation for ministry need practical pastoral training and intentional mentoring to fully meet the Guiding Principles of Ozark Christian College.
We are firmly committed to the importance of mentoring for individual spiritual formation. This is why most students are required to complete an Academic Mentored Internship or a Directed Field Experience before graduating. Academic Mentored Internships give the experienced student a chance to observe many aspects of ministry while serving in a specialized area.
An Academic Mentored Internship goes beyond the classroom setting. It fills in the gaps of ministry preparation that cannot be taught in the lecture hall or from a course textbook. The lessons learned in class gain a ministry context that helps the student to see their value.
The results are far reaching for the student:
1. Accelerated maturity and pastoral formation.
2. Discernment and confirmation of vocational ministry focus.
3. Learning from a seasoned veteran who is "in the field."
4. Improved competency in ministry skills.
5. Personal growth and expression of faith.
6. Bridging of classroom learning with a real-world ministry experience.
