OCC General Information
Ozark Christian College is located on a spacious 60-acre campus in the city of Joplin in southwest Missouri. This area, termed "The Four States," is only a short drive from four major cities – Kansas City, MO, Fayetteville, AR, Branson, MO, and Tulsa, OK.
Ozark Bible College was founded in 1942 as a classic four-year Bible College with only a handful of students. And despite changes through the years, the mission remains the same – to train men and women for Christian service as a degree-granting institution of biblical higher education.
The high academic caliber of OCC remains steady due to the varied faculty of full-time and part-time professors and a student-faculty ratio of 18:1. Not only can students enjoy the atmosphere of the classroom, they can also take advantage of the 63 hours of credit offered through Distance Learning. Students' options, the high standards for learning, and the quality faculty create a biblical and ministerial education that is hard to match.
The classroom is a remarkable place on OCC's campus, but don't let that keep you away from the well-known athletics programs. OCC holds many honors, including four national championships, as a member of the National Christian College Association of Athletics. The ladies can enjoy competition in volleyball and basketball while the men take on basketball and soccer. Even if your student shies from the court or field, he or she can join in the camaraderie of the student body as it cheers its teams to victory.
Campus life and activities provide outlets of many sorts – drama, music, and intramural sports just to name a few. OCC has something for everyone. The Mabee Student Center provides a place of community and fellowship for the students and houses the OCC bookstore, the Richardson Health Center, and the mail facility.
Your student can find a home away from home in one of the six residence halls – three for men and three for women. Plus, they can earn that extra cash to cover the gas home with an on-campus job.
As the economic climate changes from day to day, there is one thing that will never change – the mission to train men and women for Christian service in the ultimate task of glorifying God by evangelization of the lost and the edification of the church worldwide.
