WHEN TO APPLY
New students may apply ONE time prior to their semester of enrollment. Students who meet the Admissions requirements and the President's and Richardson Dean's Scholarship requirements for the Fall '13 semester by February 15, 2013 and for the SPRING '14 semester by November 1, 2013 will be considered for these scholarships. Students fully accepted after the deadline will be able to apply for Federal aid and Outside scholarships, but will not be considered for the President's and Richardson Dean's scholarships.

HOW TO APPLY
The following items are needed:

Bullet blue arrow   SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:  Includes the 'facts sheet' and 'future plans statement' as shown on pages three and four of this information and application form. President and Dean's application link. (Requires free account with NGWeb Solutions)
Bullet blue arrow   OCC APPLICATION: Includes the enrollment application fee of $30, high School transcript (including final grades for the first semester of your senior year), or college transcripts & transfer applicant evaluation for transfer students from another college(s) attended. A reference form from a Minister or Sunday School Teacher, and a Public/Christian School Teacher or an Employer is also required.  It is recommended that you print the reference forms and distribute them to your references to complete and mail them to the college.

High School students who have or are taking dual credit classes will be "conditionally accepted" for consideration of the President and Dean's scholarship, but please be aware that you will be required to submit official college transcripts of all previously completed dual credit classes in order to gain "full acceptance" to attend OCC.

NOTE: If all required materials as stated herein are not received in completed form by the deadline date, the applicants can not be considered. Many times we are regrettably unable to consider highly qualified applicant because an item such as a GPA, ACT or SAT score is not submitted.

HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH
The scholarship is worth 12 credit hours of tuition each year, divided between the fall and spring semester. The total tuition value for an academic year is $3,900, $1,950 in tuition being applied to each semester.

The maximum worth to a student who qualifies each semester during a four year degree program would be $15,600; the total value for a five year program would be $19,500.00.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE
All first-time students seeking a degree at OCC. The scholarship applies to only 8 semesters for a 4-year degree and 10 semesters for a 5-year degree. Those on co-op programs are included if they are following the co-op guidelines as shown in the current OCC catalog. It is not applicable to certificates, but it does include our Associate programs and the 2-year BBM and BMB Degrees.

HOW CAN IT BE RENEWED
Once the scholarship is awarded, it is renewable each semester on the following basis: Scholarship recipients must enroll in at least 14 credit hours per semester. Each scholarship student who earns a 3.000 grade point average (4.000 scale)and has not been placed on disciplinary probation will have the scholarship automatically renewed for the following semester. The following also applies:

Bullet blue arrow   Students receiving the President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship may not also receive the Trustees' or Incentive Scholarships.
Bullet blue arrow   The President's and Richardson Dean's Scholarship must be fully used within six years after the date of the award with amounts being determined by policy in effect at each award year.
Bullet blue arrow   If a student's GPA drops below 3.000, but not less than 2.500, in a semester, he/she will then be awarded the Trustees' Scholarship on the following basis:
  • The President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship is forfeited for that semester.
  • The semester toward which the President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship could apply is also forfeited.
  • He/She must maintain the hours required for continuation under the Trustees' Scholarship program.
  • The student will be reinstated to the President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship following the completion of a semester during which the requirements are met.
  • Students receiving the President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship may not revert to the Trustees' Scholarship merely by enrolling in less hours than required to qualify for the President's or Richardson Dean's Scholarship.

Bullet blue arrow   This scholarship is not a cash award, applies only to tuition, is not transferable, and applies to credit hours taken at OCC only.
Bullet blue arrow   As changes are made to this scholarship program from year to year, those changes will apply to all recipients both past and present e.g., as tuition increases, the annual value of the scholarship will increase.
Bullet blue arrow   During the last two semesters of completing a degree, the student must enroll in at least 10 credit hours per semester. This exception is available only to students who do not need 14 hours per semester to complete the course of study for their degrees.

THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING
All applications for these scholarships to be awarded for the coming school year must be received by February 15, 2013 for the Fall '13 semester and by November 1, 2013 for the Spring '14 semester . The winners will be announced during the last week in December and the last week in April. A total of fifteen President's and fifteen Richardson Dean's Scholarships will be awarded.

NOTE: You may "stack" scholarships. This means that you can use all of them that you may accumulate to pay for your tuition at OCC. All scholarships apply to tuition only, are not cash awards, and are not transferable, and apply to credit hours only. To maintain them, the student must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester and have a 2.000 semester GPA.
