MN 254 - Foundations for Youth Ministry

Students will receive instruction in creating an effective youth program in the local church. The course covers a history of youth ministry, the development of a personal philosophy of youth ministry, models of youth ministry, characteristics and needs of today's youth, effective teaching methods, the personal life of the youth minister, planning events and retreats, inter-staff relationships, recruiting and training of volunteers, student evangelism and deepening students through discipleship and mentoring. Students learn through a combination of lecture, guest teachers, discussion, team work and practical projects. (Also available as a distance learning course MN 256D Youth Ministry Dynamics).
