If you had a week off from college or from your work, how would you spend it? Instead of the typical trip to the beach as millions of people take this time of year, something rather unique is taking place during spring break. During "Week of Evangelism" as it is called here at OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, students, faculty and staff members are heading out to share the love of Jesus around the world.

A long-time core value of OCC, the phrase "Not to Be Served But to Serve," is the principle behind "Week of Evangelism," March 15-22. During this week, around twenty-five ministry teams will go out from campus to many locations around the United States, along with some teams traveling overseas. To the mountains of Montana, to the heights of the Empire State Building in New York City, and to the poverty filled huts of Haiti, members of the OCC family will be teaching, singing, preaching, building, cleaning, teaching VBS, cutting brush, painting, and sharing with people on the streets about hope.

Professors, administrators, staff workers and students alike will be leading groups. Some teams will be large and others will work by themselves or with a friend in their local community. Both faculty and students will share the same quarters, whether on a palette on the dirt floor or a hard bed in a cabin, and work side by side throughout the week. Hearts will be touched; Lives will be changed; and needs will be met in the name of Jesus.

Doug Welch, Director of Christian Service and Internships, says about this special week, "We try and remind our students continually that their school work here at OCC is not merely about academic success. It is about higher goals, impacting the world for eternity. So, we take our 'Spring Break' time to challenge our students to love and serve the world for which Christ died. And the students that take part in the program have told us every year that it has changed their goals and priorities and made them better students."
