position with Taylorville Christian Church
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Minister is to be the primary preacher of the Word of God in all worship services with concern for communicating that Word to all ages. He is to work with the Worship Minister and Creative Worship Team in preparing inspiring, vibrant worship services that honor God and in a form most suitable for the congregation. The Senior Minister will build up and encourage staff members to occasionally preach the Word of God. The Senior Minister is to teach and equip church members to carry out the total ministry of the church in evangelism and nurture. Some of the teaching/equipping responsibilities can be delegated through the ministry staff, elders and others. The Senior Minister will lead members of the ministry staff as a team, ensuring that all staff, ministry and otherwise, fulfill the requirements of their job description and encourage them in their ministries. The Senior Minister is to oversee the administrative aspects of the church, delegating responsibilities to the Administrative Assistant, as deemed necessary. The Senior Minister will perform annual staff evaluations and report to the Elder Personnel Committee. The Senior Minister will provide short-term counseling as needed and be available and responsive to crisis situations, and along with the ministry staff provide pastoral care as needed. The Senior Minister is expected to serve in the community as time allows, including the Taylorville Ministerial Association and service clubs. The Senior Minister is to be available and willing to perform weddings and funerals as needed. The Senior Minister is to perform other duties as directed by the Eldership for the enrichment of the staff, and the carrying out of the vision and mission of the church. QUALIFICATIONS: The Senior Minister should be a Christ-centered leader who is an effective and articulate preacher, shepherd, teacher, communicator, a team builder, visionary and have a genuine pastoral heart for all people. He is expected to meet the biblical qualifications for the role of pastor/elder as broadly defined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4. He should have as minimum post-secondary education; a bachelor’s degree in ministry from a Christian Church/Church of Christ affiliated college/university, and preferably have a master’s degree from a similarly affiliated seminary. He should have a minimum of five years of ministry experience in a multi-staff environment is preferred. He should have a vision for Christ’s church and the ability to communicate that vision clearly.Application Requirements:
