One & Two Year Certificates
A Year or Two in The Life...
A year or two isn't much out of an entire lifetime. But even one year could
make a lifetime of difference. Especially if it were spent firming up the
foundation upon which your life is being built. Just one or two years of
specialized preparation for Christian service will serve you well regardless of
your choice of a lifetime career.
You may be thinking, "Why do I want to waste a year or two at Bible college?"
We certainly don't want you to do that either. But the probability of being
wasted spiritually during four or more years at a secular college or university
could result in real eternal loss. One or two years invested first at a Bible
college can provide the protection you truly need against that kind of risk.
Count The Cost
"But what about the cost of an additional year or two of college? The expense
of a college education is high enough anyway." Certainly cost must be
considered; however, the minimum investment of one or two years at OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE can yield maximum dividends in the quality and character of
your life. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" definitely holds true in
education. Virtually any college can prepare you to make a living, but OCC
prepares you to make a life as well. Eternally speaking, which of these values
is really worth the price? Besides, one or two years of specialized study at a
Bible college will strengthen you for any other course of study and career you
may choose to pursue.
Consider The Choices
As you look over the following choices, consider which one(s) best fit into
what you want to do with your life in volunteer Christian service. Whichever
certificate you choose to spend one or two years earning, you will be pleased
with the way it will prepare you to deal with whatever you may do with the rest
of your life.
Two-Year Certificates
Certificate of Biblical Literature: This
course is especially designed for those expecting to find their life work in
some field other than preaching. It provides 45 hours in Biblical studies, 6
hours in general studies, 6 hours in practical studies and 7 hours of
electives. This program furnishes you with valuable protection against the
nonChristian influences likely to be met in higher education in other fields of
study.
Certificate of Ministry: This certificate combines a basic core of Bible studies with training for
leadership and service. This two-year program provides basic leadership
training for those who feel they are unable to spend four years in Bible
college; however, the courses involved also provide the basic foundation for
four or five-year degrees at OCC. The program contains 34 hours in Biblical
studies, 11 hours in general studies, 16 hours in practical studies and 3 hours
of electives.
Certificate of Missions: This certificate
combines a basic core of Bible studies with training for missionary service.
This two-year program provides basic leadership training for those interested
in communicating the Word of God cross-culturally; however, the courses
involved also provide the basic foundation for four or five-year degrees at
OCC. The program contains 32 hours in Biblical studies, 16 hours in Missions
studies, 7 hours in general studies and 10 hours in practical studies.
Certificate of Deaf Ministry: This program
provides training for involvement in ministry to the deaf. It includes 26 hours
of Biblical studies, 23 hours in general studies and 16 hours of practical
studies. These 16 hours involve a one-semester program conducted at the
facilities of Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The program involves
classroom lectures on various phases of teaching the deaf, visitation and
observation of classes at Iowa State School for the Deaf, lesson preparation,
practice teaching, preparation of visuals, and writing for the deaf.
Certificate of Church Music: For those
desiring to be involved in the music ministry of the church, this program
includes some foundation building blocks for serving more confidently in this
vital area. This certificate provides 30 hours in Biblical studies, 11 hours in
general studies and 26 hours in music studies.
Certificate of Day Care Ministry: This
certificate is offered for those who would like to be qualified in the state of
Missouri to supervise a day care for up to 60 children. It provides 27 hours in
Biblical studies, 22 hours of general studies and 18 hours in practical
studies.
Christian Foundation Certificate: This
certificate is offered for those who plan to attend another college to prepare
for non-church-related vocations. It includes 26 hours in Biblical studies, 34
hours in general studies and 3 hours of practical studies. Approximately one
year of general studies in this program can be transferred to
Missouri Southern State University, Pittsburg
State University or Southwest Missouri State
University. After completing this two-year program, a Bachelor's Degree in most fields of
study could be completed in three years at one of these schools.
Certificate of Family Nurture: This certificate is offered for those desiring specific preparation in the
area of family nurture. The certificate views the domestic tasks of ministry as
a legitimate calling from God. It provides 30 hours in Biblical studies, 15
hours of family emphasis, 11 hours of general studies and 9 hours in practical
studies.
One-Year Certificates
Bible Knowledge Certificate: For those who want to concentrate on Bible courses in a one-year program,
this certificate is provided. It includes 10 hours in Old Testament studies, 12
hours in New Testament Studies, 5 hours in doctrinal studies, 1 hour of general
studies and 4 hours of electives.
Christian Service Certificate: This certificate is provided for those
who want to attend Bible college for one year and combine Biblical studies
with courses in the area of Christian service. It includes 19 hours in Biblical
studies, 4 hours in general studies and 9 hours in practical studies.
TESOL Certification Program: This certificate is a 17 semester
hour program designed to prepare Christians to teach English to those whose
primary language is not English. This preparation can be used in cross-cultural
settings to advance the Lord's kingdom. This certification functions within
the existing curriculum program. The TESOL certification will only be given
to those completing at least a one-year certificate at OCC (or students approved
by the Director of the TESOL program). Joy

Commit The Time
C'mon, give it a year or two. Is the goal of your life worth this minimal
commitment of time for intense spiritual direction? It just could be the most
important year or two of your life.
