Careers & Vocations
Vocational Questions
"What can I do with a Bible College education?" "What kind of job can my son or
daughter get after graduating from a Bible college? After all, you have to pay
the bills you know." "What kinds of marketable skills will I gain at Bible
College?"
These and other like questions are frequently asked during OCC days at
churches, at youth conventions, at college fairs, at camps, over the phone and
in our offices by prospective students and their parents. They are practical
questions and deserve direct answers.
Vocational Answers
In an attempt to provide these answers, we surveyed our alumni. Many other
items were in the survey, but these two were included to focus on the
vocational orientation of OCC degrees:
-
State present occupation.
-
To what extent did your training at OCC prepare you for your vocation?
- Great extent
- Some
- Very little
- Not at all
The following list represents answers given for the first request. The second
question revealed that 90% of those responding stated that either to a great or
some extent, their training at OCC did prepare them for their vocation.
This material is being provided to you for two reasons. First, it is provided
for your information so that you can more thoroughly and confidently answer
your vocation question. Second, because we want you to know that we, too, are
concerned about such things as career and "paying the bills." Our focus at OCC
is to prepare you not only for making a life but also for making a living.
