History: Stable leadership has been a hallmark of OCC throughout its history. The college has had only five Presidents and only four Academic Deans in 65 years.
Ozark Bible College began in 1942 in Bentonville, Arkansas, and relocated to Joplin, Missouri, in 1944. The college relocated again to its present location at 1111 North Main Street in 1963. Ozark Bible College became OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE in 1985 when it consolidated with Midwest Christian College, Oklahoma City.

Mission: OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE is a classic Bible college training women and men for vocational ministry. An average of 95 percent of each graduating class proceeds directly to vocational ministry upon graduation. Accreditation: OCC is accredited, along with over 100 other Christian colleges and universities accross the United States, by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Read more about OCC's Certification.

Enrollment: OCC has experienced an 87% growth in the last 19 years. In 2006 OCC enrolled 743 students.

Students: Thirty-three percent of the student body is from Missouri; eleven percent from Kansas; ten percent from Oklahoma; five percent from Iowa; four percent from Texas; and thirty-four percent from other states. Three percent represents international students. (Statistics from 2006)

Approximately ninety percent are members of the Christian Church/Churches of Christ and ten percent are members of various denominations.

Seventy-two percent of students receive financial aid totaling nearly $4,000,000 (from federal programs, OCC grants, home churches or other sources and scholarships).

Graduates: In 2007 OCC sent out a record-breaking 150 graduates receiving 165 degrees. Over 10,000 alumni serve throughout the United States and in forty countries around the world.

OCC employs 300 administrators, faculty, staff and students. Many full-time professors are popular authors and speakers around the world. The faculty consists of 71 full and part-time professors.

Board of Trustees: Fifteen trustees guide the college. The board is made up of ministers, business / professional men and local church elders. Currently one seat is vacant.

Gift Income: OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE needs $1,800,000 annually in gift income. These funds subsidize the difference between the actual costs of an OCC education and all other income. This fund, called Ozark World Changers, comes from individuals, churches and businesses. The college receives no federal or state government assistance for operating purposes.
The Stewardship Department consults with individuals and businesses regarding estate plan preparation and tax advantageous giving and investing.

Library: The Seth Wilson Library collection includes approximately 62,000 bound volumes: 20,000 A-V items and 350 periodical subscriptions. An average number of 5,000 books circulate each month. The library is automated in cataloging, public access and circulation. The catalog may be searched on the Internet at http://Library.OCC.edu/. The library is open to the public.

Operating Funds: The annual operating budget of the college is approximately $10,000,000, which is expended mostly in Joplin. Tuition and fees provide for forty-seven percent; residence hall rent, dining hall and bookstore income provide for twenty-six percent; gifts, gift income provides twenty-four percent; and miscellaneous sources provide the final three percent. The Stewardship office consults with interested parties regarding estate plan preparation and tax advantageous giving and investing.

Financial Stability: The College operates on a conservative fiscal basis and operational budgets are prepared each year. An independent audit is conducted annually. OCC is a member in good standing with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.

Academic Programs: Four-year and five-year degree programs prepare graduates for vocational Christian leadership. Associate degrees, Certificates and TESOL Certifications are available, including co-op degree programs with Missouri Southern State University in the areas of Bible/Nursing, Elementary Education, Middle School Education and Secondary Education.

Distance Learning: OCC offers 66 hours of credit in Distance Learning classes to students worldwide and mandates field experience or internships for all degree programs.

Athletics: OCC holds four national championships and is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The college operates intercollegiate sports programs including soccer, basketball and volleyball for women and soccer, basketball and baseball for men. Click here to visit our athletics pages.

Special Features: The Learning Center and Academic Computer Lab are resource facilities that provide assistance to students / staff. The Academic Computer Lab provides software designed to meet student needs, along with a teaching module computer used for live computer demonstrations. 90.7 FM KOBC is the college's radio station providing twenty-four hour Christian programming to the four-state area. Various campus events provide opportunities to over 20,000 persons to visit the OCC campus yearly. The OCC Bookstore is open to the general public.

Campus Development: OCC is currently in Phase II of a four-phase master plan expansion designed to accommodate a student body of 1,200.
